Removal of Banner Ads on Download Pages

The Windows software published by our company, including CubePDF, CubePDF Utility, and CubePDF Page, is available free of charge for both individual and corporate users, with a few exceptions. The majority of the costs required for the ongoing development and maintenance of these products are covered by advertising revenue.

We have recently revised our advertising policy and discontinued certain advertisements displayed on our download pages.

Background

On our product websites, we have been using rewarded ads and banner ads provided by Google, which are displayed when users click the download button.

Recently, we have received reports from users regarding cases where banner ads—particularly those that could be categorized as so-called “support scams”—were being displayed.

In response, we have investigated the situation and taken steps to mitigate the issue. Specifically, using the management features of Google AdSense (including the Ad Review Center and various blocking controls), we have implemented the following measures:

  • Blocking specific Google Ads advertiser accounts
  • Blocking categories in which such ads frequently appear
  • Restricting the majority of Google-certified buyers (ad networks)
  • Submitting individual reports when necessary

However, even after continued monitoring, we have confirmed that undesirable advertisements have not been fully eliminated.

Google has publicly stated that it is continuously working to improve the safety of its advertising ecosystem (see: Google’s 2025 Ads Safety Report). While we recognize these efforts, within the scope observable from our side, we continue to observe undesirable advertisements appearing under certain conditions. From an operational perspective, it is difficult to conclude that such issues are being sufficiently mitigated.

Policy Update

Based on the above, we have decided to discontinue the use of banner ads on our download pages. For other ad placements, we will continue monitoring the situation and applying necessary countermeasures.

Our goal is to ensure that users can obtain our software in a safe and reliable manner, without encountering confusion or risk during the process. At the same time, we regret to note that a certain level of revenue is essential for the continued provision of our products.

Although our resources are limited, we will continue to review and improve our approach as needed. We sincerely appreciate your understanding and continued support.
